Naalala Niyo Pa ba Ang Little Mister Pogi Na Si Atong Redillas , Ito Na ANg Career Niya Ngayon


 Ryan Redillas, or more popularly known on his screen name Atong Redillas, is a former  star whose career started when he joined the Eat Bulaga segment Little Mr. Pogi back in 1987. Decades after, many netizens wondered where has this  star been as he didn’t appear on later TV shows nor series nowadays anymore.

Atong Redillas was born in September 11, 1982. He was one of the biggest, most in-demand actors of the 80’s and 90’s to which he appeared on many iconic TV shows and done several movies as a child star.

His career started when he joined the TV contest, Little Mr. Pogi; a pageant for young boys similar to its counterpart Little Miss Philippines. Atong’s response to the Q&A portion hosted by Mel Tiangco left a remarkable memory which made his fans adore him more. Mel asked  Atong what he wanted to be when he grows up and he responded that he wanted to become the president of the Philippines.

When the child star Camille Prats joined and won the pageant Little Miss Philippines in 1990, Atong was the one chosen to be her escort. On her TV talk show Mars, Camille invited Atong as a guest to her show and reenacted the photos during the pageant back in 1990.

Many acting projects and opportunities opened up for Atong, most especially the iconic TV sitcom John and Marsha whose titular roles portrayed by the “Comedy King” Dolphy, and promising actress, the late Nida Blanca. Atong was casted as the child of Dolphy on the sitcom and fans adored the cuteness of him as a young boy.

Atong was able to make over 40 acting projects as well both in film and TV such as Darna (1991), Ang Mahiwagang Mundo ni Elias Paniki (1989), and Rocky Plus Five where he played alongside Vic Sotto and fellow child stars Aiza Seguerra and Meryl Soriano.

However, growing up, Atong decided to leave the showbiz industry and prioritized things outside the spotlight. He took up and graduated Bachelor of Arts in Art Studies in the University of the Philippines.

Currently, Atong busies himself as a professor in the University of the Philippines and directs indie films and theater plays wherein he adapted numerous literary pieces onstage such as Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare, and local literary works such as Ibong Adarna, Pingkian, and Nardo.He is now also married and now has a son who many netizens would say that resembled him so much in his younger days.
