Social media nowadays are not just used for communication and commercial purposes, some other people use it to express their own selves and their own beliefs. Many Filipinos are aware that one of the biggest companies in the country, ABS-CBN was forced to shut down last May 5 because of their franchise renewal issues. A lot of people were saddened by the news as the company as well as the station has been a part of every Filipino household for many decades already.
Most of us literally grew up watching a lot of their shows and programs. But unfortunately, ABS-CBN needs to be closed resulting in more than 11,000 employees left jobless according to some reports. Netizens were enraged and a lot of Kapamilya artists also expressed their honest opinions in their respective social media accounts.
Some of the most controversial Kapamilya artists today include Coco Martin and Kim Chiu. Both of them received various comments and reactions from the public because of their social media posts regarding the ABS-CBN shutdown. Most of the comments about them are negative and people are actually questioning their sincerity as they are already known to be successful and rich that is why they shouldn’t be anxious about their finances unlike those regular and probationary employees.
It was just recently when a Kapamilya actress, Cristine Reyes was greatly admired by a lot of netizens as she was able to remain calm despite the situation. Her post about the current situation didn’t show any hatred nor rants or complaints but she expressed how grateful she was to be part of the entertainment industry and the station as well. Netizens could not help but admire her and describe her as one of the most educated and well-mannered artists to ever address the issue.
The public praised her and commend the award-winning actress for her comment as a public figure. True enough that being a famous celebrity, they should always be careful in what they say to people because they can really affect and influence a lot of people especially those who look up to them and admire them the most.
